Teachers and creators from around the world reached out to us. From the United States to Sweden, from Bolivia to Moldova, and many places in between. They all shared the same request: “Can we create crossword games in our language?”
Today, we’re announcing support for 24 languages.

Why We Added These Languages
We didn’t pick these languages randomly. They came directly from teachers and creators who wanted to build crosswords for their own communities, in their own languages. This update is about making that possible.
What This Means for You
Game Languages
Create crosswords using words and clues in any of the 24 supported languages.
You can also use the AI assistant to generate content in your selected language. While English is the most refined, other languages are actively improving. If something feels off, we’d love your feedback.
Smarter Keyboard for Every Language
PlayCrossword uses a simplified keyboard tailored to each puzzle instead of a standard QWERTY layout.
For every word, the system automatically selects the relevant letters along with a few distractors. This means faster typing, fewer mistakes, and no extra setup for creators.
Interface Translations Coming Soon
We know that’s not enough. Many of you also want the entire interface in your native language. That’s on our roadmap. We started with game languages first, and we’ll be working on translating the interface next.
How to Create Crosswords in Different Languages
- Open the Creator
- Select your preferred language from the language dropdown
- Create your crossword with words and clues in that language
- The AI assistant will generate content in your selected language
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use non-Latin scripts like Cyrillic?
Yes. Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, and Belarusian all use Cyrillic characters, and they’re fully supported.
Will the AI generate clues in my language?
Yes. Our AI assistant can generate word-clue pairs in all 24 supported languages.
When will the interface be translated?
We’re working on it! Interface translations are on our roadmap. For now, the game content can be in any of the 24 languages.
Can I switch languages mid-game?
You can create separate games in different languages. Each game is created in one language at a time.
